The Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) protects tame and wild animals from suffering and shows people the best way to take care of them.
The AACL has been in existence since 1956. As a non-profit animal welfare organization (NPO: 000-560), the League does not receive any subsidization from Government and is therefore wholly reliant on the private and corporate sectors forfinancial support.
The JHB Society has an animal welfare hospital, which caters to the needs of pet owners who qualify for welfare assistance, i.e. pensioners, the unemployed, low-income public members, etc.
Veterinary treatment is rendered for a donation, according to income and in many cases, the League has to subsidize where people are unable to pay anything at all. We have two fulltime veterinarians and two veterinary nurses, together with hospital assistants and hospital reception staff.
