Supporting South Africans affected by muscular dystrophy since 1974

The Muscular Dystrophy Foundation of South Africa was established in 1974 by parents seeking support and answers for their son diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. What began as a small, determined effort has grown into a national non-profit organisation, with a central office and branches serving families across all nine provinces.

Today, the Foundation supports individuals affected by muscular dystrophy and related neuromuscular conditions by providing access to reliable international information, hosting educational workshops, facilitating support groups and connecting families with healthcare services, counsellors and social support professionals. Where possible, the Foundation also assists with specialised disability equipment and works to raise public awareness about muscular dystrophy and disability, helping affected individuals live with greater dignity, understanding and support.

Your purchase helps support individuals and families affected by muscular dystrophy through access to information, guidance, support services and resources that improve quality of life and promote dignity and independence.
